YouZhiYouXing (youzhiyouxing.cn, 有知有行) is a Chinese investment-service app founded by Meng Yan in January 2020. It bundles three layers into one product: free investor-education content (courses, articles, podcasts), family-finance tools (asset tracking, true investment-return calculators, a market-valuation "thermometer"), and licensed fund advisory and distribution services. Its motto is "investing serves a better life," and its core method is the "Four Pots of Money" framework—splitting household money by time horizon into everyday cash, insurance, steady money and long-term money (About, checked 2026-10-02).

Unlike most Chinese investing apps that open on quotes and top-gainer lists, YouZhiYouXing publicly commits to no fund leaderboards, no short-term market predictions and no high-commission product pushes, and says it labels fees and investors' real returns on product pages. The site and app are Chinese-only; there is no English interface.

Background

  • Founder Meng Yan: a computer-science graduate of Beihang University (admitted 1997) who worked at Sun Microsystems' China research lab and Microsoft. He started investing in 2005, founded the fund community "Caibangzi" in 2006, and in 2015 founded the fund-sales platform Qieman (now part of Yingmi Fund, per Qieman's App Store listing), pioneering a model-following fund model. He has publicly documented his own portfolio ("investment record") on WeChat since September 2017, left Qieman in late 2019 and founded YouZhiYouXing in January 2020 (About).
  • From content to licensed institution: the company began with investor-companion content; its Hainan subsidiary was approved for public fund distribution in December 2024 and received its securities/futures business license in August 2025, described as the first independent fund-distribution institution approved in Hainan (About).
  • Corporate entities: the site and app are operated by Beijing Youzhiyouxing Technology Co., Ltd. and affiliates (privacy policy; App Store seller). Fund distribution is handled by Hainan Youzhiyouxing Fund Sales Co., Ltd., supervised by the CSRC, with client subscription funds held in a dedicated, fully supervised account at SPD Bank (About).
  • Books: Meng Yan's The First Investment Lesson (《投资第1课》) was published in February 2023; What I Believe About Investing (《投资中,我相信的事》), covering eight years of his public investment record, followed in March 2026.

"Youzhi": Investor-Education Content

The content layer is free to read on the web (Youzhi):

  • First Investment Lesson: a free beginner course by Meng Yan and Zhang Xiaoyu, organized into chapters such as "Worldview" and "Mental Models," readable on the web without an account; the intro chapter shows over 280,000 learners as of 2026-10-02 (course syllabus). A namesake print book and video edition also exist.
  • Investment knowledge system: an in-app knowledge map that organizes investing concepts by theme; registration required.
  • Podcasts: Wuren Zhixiao (《无人知晓》, hosted by Meng Yan) and Zhixing Bistro (《知行小酒馆》)—both officially stated to have passed one million subscribers—plus Investing ABC for beginners and an audio drama (About).
  • Columns and yearbook: the "Zhixing Blackboard" column comments on markets and strategy; since 2023 the company has co-published the annual China Multi-Asset Investment Yearbook (SBBI China Yearbook) with Dr. Chen Peng, analyzing long-run returns of Chinese stocks and bonds.
  • Public constitution: Meng Yan's YouZhiYouXing Constitution v1.0 openly states the company's beliefs, its revenue model (asset-based management fees, per the document) and a list of things it vows never to do.

"Youxing": Family-Finance Tools

A set of self-service tools positioned as helping you "act as your family's CFO." They require a free account and are available in the app and via a web entry (yx.youzhiyouxing.cn) (Youxing, About):

  • Household asset tracking: inventory assets and liabilities across family members, rendered as a Sankey diagram, with periodic reviews of changes.
  • Investment tracking: consolidate holdings across platforms and compute true, uniformly calculated rates of return, with curves benchmarked against indexes.
  • Mental accounts: dedicated sub-accounts for goals such as retirement or education, with progress tracking.
  • Other tools: cash-flow calculator, family insurance-policy manager, "Fund CT" (fund data and investor real-return observations), pension calculator and savings-plan calculator.
  • Market thermometer: a proprietary valuation gauge that converts market- and index-level valuations into a 0–100 "temperature," publicly viewable on the web without login and updated daily (thermometer).

Licensed Financial Services

On top of content and tools, the app offers three categories of financial services, each carried by a distinct licensed entity (About):

  • Advisory portfolios: the Steady account (bond-heavy, for money needed in 1–3 years; a reference allocation of 80% bonds / 15% equities / 5% money-market funds is shown), the Long-term account (A-share-focused, suggested holding period of five-plus years) and Overseas Long-term (globally diversified stocks and bonds, designed for mainland-China investors, suggested holding of seven-plus years). All three pages state that advisory services are provided by Harvest Wealth (嘉实财富), with allocation and rebalancing handled by a dedicated team and full risk disclosures in the footer.
  • Curated funds: a shortlist of dozens of funds selected from over ten thousand, for self-directed investors; distribution is provided by Hainan Youzhiyouxing Fund Sales Co., Ltd. That company's site discloses an average all-in fee rate of 0.2% for money-market funds and 0.48% for non-money-market funds (management, custody and sales-service fees included, as of 2026-06-30, youzhiyouxing.com).
  • Insurance: Beijing Youzhiyouxing Technology partners with licensed insurance brokers on plans covering accident, medical, critical-illness and term-life insurance.

On cost: the app is a free download (the App Store flags in-app purchases, with no items detailed publicly); the course, articles, podcasts and thermometer are free; tracking tools are free after registration, and no membership or content subscription is listed (as of 2026-10-02). Fees for fund purchases and advisory services are disclosed inside the app and on each service page.

Who It's For

  • Beginners who want a structured, free path into investing fundamentals.
  • Households that want a full balance-sheet view: assets, liabilities, insurance coverage and goal-based accounts.
  • Investors spread across platforms who want a single, consistent measure of real returns.
  • Mainland-China investors aligned with long-term, hands-off asset allocation who prefer portfolios matched to money's time horizon.

Limitations

  • China-market only: Chinese-language only; fund sales and advisory target mainland-China investors; the privacy policy is governed by PRC law. Core services are unavailable to overseas users.
  • Tracking, not daily bookkeeping: the tools focus on balance-sheet snapshots and investment returns, not everyday expense logging—pair with a dedicated budgeting app if needed.
  • App-centric: the web version mainly covers content and tool entry points; advisory and fund transactions happen inside the app.
  • Single investment style: everything is built around "good assets, good price, long-term holding"; there are no tools for individual stocks or active trading.
  • Introductory depth: the educational content targets beginners and mindset building rather than advanced research.
