SMZDM (smzdm.com, 什么值得买, literally "Is it worth buying?") is a Chinese consumer decision community and shopping-guide platform built around one habit: check before you buy. Its core feed, "Haojia" (好价, "good prices"), aggregates discounts across major Chinese e-commerce sites, submitted by users and vetted by editors before publication. Alongside it, a long-form community hosts product reviews, buying guides, and hands-on write-ups. Unlike a pure price-comparison engine or on-site store reviews, most of its content comes from real shoppers and passes editorial review — its main verifiable distinction from comparable platforms.

Background
SMZDM was founded by Sui Guodong in June 2010 as a personal blog sharing online-shopping discounts. The operating company, Beijing Zhidemai Technology Co., Ltd., was incorporated in November 2011. According to its listing announcement, the company went public on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange ChiNext board on July 15, 2019, under the ticker 300785 — one of the earliest Chinese shopping-guide companies to list. Long-time users nicknamed the site "Zhang Da Ma" (张大妈), a pun on the SMZDM initials; the company later adopted the name for its AI shopping assistant.
What it offers
Haojia: a user-submitted deal feed
"Haojia" is the platform's core channel, aggregating discounts from Chinese e-commerce sites. Every deal page carries an official notice: deal information comes from user submissions and merchant self-recommendations, and is published after manual editor review or automated judgment by the platform's "Xiaozhi robot." Deal pages show the price, the purchase channel, and an outbound "buy" link; the platform's official introduction says the channel also provides real-time price comparison and historical low-price data.

Prices on Chinese e-commerce move fast: deal pages warn that older submissions may have expired, and the final price on the merchant's page prevails.
Community: reviews, guides, and hands-on posts
The community section (post.smzdm.com) hosts long-form user content: product reviews, buying guides, unboxings, and usage experiences across categories such as electronics, home goods, food, and outdoor gear. Author profiles display article counts, deal submissions, and followers, and the platform runs a creator verification and growth system. These posts are written from real purchase and usage scenarios, making them a primary reference for checking word of mouth before buying.

Product wiki and other features
Per the official introduction, the product wiki structures information on products, brands, and knowledge entries for quick lookup. The platform also runs product-testing campaigns (free trials), coupon aggregation, and member perks. Since 2025 it has been rolling out a "GEN2" version that shifts toward AI-driven interest-based content, including a "Zhang Da Ma" AI shopping assistant on the wiki domain.
Business model and neutrality
The platform is free for consumers. According to Zhidemai Technology's 2024 annual report, revenue comes from "information promotion services" provided to e-commerce platforms and brands, split into two parts: affiliate commissions earned when users click through and place orders, and advertising display revenue. This means the platform has a financial stake in transactions: outbound "buy" links carry commissions, merchants can self-submit deals, and brands can advertise. SMZDM describes itself on deal pages as a "neutral consumer portal" and discloses where deals come from, but readers should treat it as a source of shopping information rather than an independent testing body.
Copyright and content policy
The platform is primarily user-generated content, governed by its user agreement:
- Copyright in user-published content is held jointly by the user and the operating company; either party may license it to third parties without the other's consent.
- Platform editors may reasonably edit and modify user content.
- Users bear responsibility for content that infringes third-party rights; the platform may remove content upon receiving copyright complaints.
- The community guidelines prohibit personal attacks, privacy violations, discriminatory content, bulk advertising, and automated manipulation; violations can lead to warnings, content removal, or permanent account suspension.
A separate personal information protection policy covers how registration data is collected and used.
Good for
- Checking a product's historical low price and current offers across platforms before buying;
- Reading real-user reviews and buyer-beware experiences, especially for higher-stakes purchases like electronics and appliances;
- Watching a steady stream of deals in categories you follow;
- After registering, submitting deals and publishing reviews of your own.
Limitations
- Chinese-language only, and centered on Chinese e-commerce; limited usefulness for shopping outside that ecosystem.
- The affiliate model ties recommendations to transaction outcomes, so promotional "seeding" content calls for independent judgment.
- Deals expire quickly; expired prices and sold-out items are common.
- UGC quality varies widely; reviews are individual experiences without standardized testing methods.
- The community feed has broadened well beyond shopping, mixing in general entertainment content that dilutes search and browsing efficiency.
