Recent (recent.design) is a daily-curated design inspiration platform whose scope extends beyond websites to interfaces, branding, motion, and other digital design work. Its predecessor was Godly, a website design inspiration gallery launched in 2021, built on a simple editorial rule: publish several top-tier websites per day and always value quality over quantity. According to Recent's own Info page, the newer platform takes Godly's place; visiting godly.website today returns a 301 redirect to recent.design. This profile focuses on the platform as it exists today, while tracing the lineage shared by both names.

Background

According to a September 2021 archive of its About page, Godly was founded in 2021 and curated by Rejiggle, a design studio that described Godly as its side project. The earliest Wayback Machine capture of godly.website dates to June 2021, and by that September the gallery had featured 338 websites. Rejiggle's own site is no longer online.

Recent's Info page states that the project was founded in 2023 as a way to collect the best design work posted on X, was left dormant for a time, and was relaunched in 2026 with inspiration expanded to Instagram, websites, tools, and more — formally taking the place of Godly. The godly.website domain now redirects to recent.design with a ?ref=godly parameter. The Info page does not name its operator, but the redirect and the official "takes the place of Godly" wording both point to the same team; no independent public record confirms this.

The Recent home feed: a masonry stream of design inspiration filterable by medium such as Web, Interface, Branding, Typography, and Motion

How Content Is Organized

The home page is a masonry feed of design inspiration, filterable by medium: Web, Interface, Branding, Product, Typography, Motion, Illustration, 3D, Editorial, Print, and Packaging. The original website gallery lives on in the Websites section, organized by industry — AI, Agency, Portfolio, SaaS, Ecommerce, Startup, and more — continuing the role Godly played.

The Websites section groups site designs by industry, continuing Godly's original gallery format

Every entry has its own detail page. Alongside a large screenshot, a one-line description, and the source link, it shows the entry's impressions and outbound clicks, plus structured annotations: category, style, color, interaction patterns, and a tech-stack block covering framework, hosting, styling, and component library — one entry, for example, is labeled React, hosted on Cloudflare, styled with Tailwind CSS. For designers and front-end developers who want to move from "that looks great" to "how was it built," these annotations add real reference value beyond a plain screenshot gallery.

Beyond websites, the platform runs narrower inspiration sections for OG Images (social share cards), App Screenshots, and App Icons, plus three resource sections: Tools (a design-tool directory with partner deals), Skills (design skill packs for AI coding agents), and Jobs (a design job board).

Accounts and Business Model

All content is browsable without an account. Sign-in supports X, Google, or an email code, and unlocks saving work, submitting entries, and posting jobs. The sidebar shows "Join 15,524 members" as of 2026-09-17; the figure updates in real time.

Browsing is free. Revenue comes from three documented sources: sponsorships sold as 30-day campaigns at 5,000withatleast300,000guaranteedimpressionsandnomorethanfourconcurrentpartners,withsponsoredcardslabeled"Sponsored"insidethefeeds;[jobposts](https://recent.design/jobs)at5,000 with at least 300,000 guaranteed impressions and no more than four concurrent partners, with sponsored cards labeled "Sponsored" inside the feeds; [job posts](https://recent.design/jobs) at249 each; and referral deals in the Tools section. The site claims 250k+ monthly visitors, 900k+ pageviews, and 35k+ newsletter subscribers; none of these figures are independently verified.

Where It Fits

  • Web and UI designers looking for reference cases filtered by industry or medium;
  • Front-end developers who want to know which framework, host, or styling approach sits behind a visual effect;
  • Indie makers collecting landing-page and OG-image references for their own products;
  • Design teams keeping an eye on current visual trends.

Limitations

  • English-only interface; no localized versions.
  • The Godly brand is retired and all old links redirect to Recent; browsing Godly-era archives requires the Wayback Machine.
  • Sponsored cards are mixed into the feeds, so not everything shown passes through the same curation bar.
  • Traffic, membership, and per-entry impression figures are self-reported platform metrics — useful as a popularity signal, not as audited statistics.
  • The curation skews toward experimental, visually driven work; practical enterprise UI patterns are comparatively rare. For that need, Mobbin organizes references around real product screens and flows.
