Background

According to the official About page, Minimal Gallery was started in early 2013 by Piet Therheyden as a passion project, born from his own need for a go-to inspiration library while working on client projects. The site claims an audience of tens of thousands of designers, developers, agencies, and entrepreneurs. The About page also notes the site was "acquired in 2026" without naming the buyer; as of September 2026, the publishing cadence and curation format appear unchanged.

What it curates and how

The site has three sections:

  • Websites: the core archive of real website designs, paginated in reverse chronological order — over 130 pages as of September 2026. The copy says "updated weekly," but the homepage shows new entries almost daily.
  • Templates: premium website templates for platforms like Framer, Webflow, and Readymag, filterable by platform, linking out to external marketplaces for purchase.
  • Tools: a directory of tools for creatives (icons, fonts, no-code builders, and similar niches).

Inclusion is submission-based: anyone can propose a website, template, or tool through the Submit page. The site states a review window of one to two weeks and warns that "most submissions are not accepted" to keep the standard high. Notably, it explicitly does not accept paid website submissions — a revenue line kept separate from sponsorships.

The homepage and archive offer type filters (Portfolio, Agency, E-commerce, One page, and 60+ other types, each with an entry count) alongside a site-wide search. Filtering is single-axis — conditions cannot be combined — which favors serendipitous browsing over precise retrieval.

The Bookmarks feature lets you save entries into your own collections without signing up: per the legal page, bookmark data stays in your browser's local storage and is never sent to their servers. A weekly email digest, sent via MailerLite, rounds out the offering.
